Birth to 3

-Localizing (searching for) sound.

-Babbling with rhythm and inflection.

-Engaging in back and forth/turn taking with vocalizations and play.

-Difficulty using gestures such as arms up for up, waving, blowing a kiss, high fives, etc.

-Using 1 word at 1, 2 word combinations at 2, and 3 at 3.

-Responding consistently to their name.

​-Consistently looking to, pointing, or moving towards an object that is named.

-Following 1 step directions at 1, 2 at 2 and 3 at 3.

-Using yes/no appropriately.

-Asking for help by 2.

-Using at least 50 words by 2.

-Asking for attention such as "Look at me!" by 3.

-Using ing and ed endings, asking and answering why/how questions, and giving reasoning for events by 3.

-Correctly produces p, b, m, h, w, d, and n in words by 3.

Age 3-4

-Producing t, k, g, f, y, and –ing in words.

-Telling a story back from a book.

-Using words like a or the when talking, like a book or the dog.

-Talking smoothly.

-Makingcomparisons like bigger/smaller.

-Understanding using location words, like inside, on, and under.

Ages 4-5

-Producing longer/more complex grammatically correct sentences. 

-Using at least one irregular plural form, like feet or men

-Understanding/using location words, like behind, beside, and between​.

-Using words for time correctly—like yesterday and tomorrow.

-Blending word parts, like cup + cake = cupcake.

-Identifying rhyming words, like cat and hat
